This actually mean that typing 1 followed by pressing enter inside the fsck prompt did not work. Download fat32format It should works fine.
I would recommend reformatting to a linux fs if you possibly can. As mentioned, FAT has relatively low file size limits and might not handle permissions and ownership quite right.
