You need to update the default Android SDK proguard.jar with the latest version of Proguard found here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/proguard/files/ I would recommend that you install this on the side of the default version that Android ships in android-sdk\tools\proguard. You can try this Application.Current.MainPage.Width in my case this worked and i am able to find the device width in portable project itself.
I got this error because forget to add sign in capability and restart the app.
You might try using BoxView // sl is a StackLayout sl.Children.Add(new BoxView() { Color = Color.Black, WidthRequest = 100, HeightRequest = 2 }); although in my test, the width request is not being followed. This may be a bug, or other settings might be interfering with it.
I found the answer. Right click references and search Export. Just add the Mono.Android.Export to your project.
As recently as Xamarin Studio 5.6 (build 273) with Xamarin.Android 4.18.0, if you have manually deleted the Resource.designer.cs file from the project, rebuilding will regenerate Resource.designer.cs, but will not add it back into the project.
