Alright, now I got it. : )
The problem was in the SYMBOL_INFO structure. It needs to be allocated on the heap, reserving space for the symbol name, and initialized properly.
Here’s the final code:
void printStack( void );
void printStack( void )
{
unsigned int i;
void * stack[ 100 ];
unsigned short frames;
SYMBOL_INFO * symbol;
HANDLE process;
process = GetCurrentProcess();
SymInitialize( process, NULL, TRUE );
frames = CaptureStackBackTrace( 0, 100, stack, NULL );
symbol = ( SYMBOL_INFO * )calloc( sizeof( SYMBOL_INFO ) + 256 * sizeof( char ), 1 );
symbol->MaxNameLen = 255;
symbol->SizeOfStruct = sizeof( SYMBOL_INFO );
for( i = 0; i < frames; i++ )
{
SymFromAddr( process, ( DWORD64 )( stack[ i ] ), 0, symbol );
printf( "%i: %s - 0x%0X\n", frames - i - 1, symbol->Name, symbol->Address );
}
free( symbol );
}
Output is:
6: printStack - 0xD2430
5: wmain - 0xD28F0
4: __tmainCRTStartup - 0xE5010
3: wmainCRTStartup - 0xE4FF0
